Khuvsgul Itinerary: 5 days of actual fishing
Day 1. Arrive to Ulaanbaatar. Meet at airport and transfer to hotel 4*.
Day 2. Flight to Murun takes about 1 and half hours then continue driving towards Tsagaan Nuur sum (about 300 kms north-west) with frequent stops for leisure and picnic lunch. Late evening arrive to the base camp equipped with all necessary facilities. After having dinner relax.
Day 3. Today we start our fishing adventure. Fish on both Shishged and Tengis rivers for lenok, grayling and taimen, Fly camping when needed.
Day 4. Fishing.

Day 8. Return to Murun, stay overnight in local hotel.
Day 9. Fly to Ulaanbaatar, afternoon guided city tour. Overnight in hotel 4*.

Both Shishged and Tengis rivers are rich in different fish species, but our main target is a Taimen.
The taimen (Hucho taimen) is quite big fish of salmon family and distributed in the clear water river basins of Siberia and Mongolia. The taimen lives in flowing water and is only occasionally found in lakes, usually near the mouth of a tributary. The average home range size of taimen in the Eg-Uur River of Mongolia is 23 km, but some tagged individuals show home ranges up to 93 km.
The taimen’s coloration varies geographically, but is generally olive green on the head blending to reddish brown in the tail. Adipose, anal, and caudal fins are often dark red. The belly ranges from nearly white to dark gray. The taimen is one of the largest salmonids in the world. Most mature fish caught weigh from 15 to 30 kg. The average length is from 70 to 120 cm. The maximum length is about 150 to 180 cm. It can reach at least 55 years of age.
