The north-western Mongolia borders with Russia. The trek route runs through a
Dominating the skyline for much of the trek are the twin peaks of Mount Kharkhiraa (4,037m/13,225ft) and Mount Turgen (3,965m/13,009ft) homerange to snow leopards, ibex and wolves.
This is a wild region where unique ethnic groups such as Hoton, Durvud, Uriankhai and Bayad live a continuous nomadic existence. Each of them has an interesting, at times dramatic history, all to be shared with you.
During the trek our camp and kitchen will be carried by pack animals driven by Hoton and Durvud nomads. They will certainly share with you secrets of their traditional way of life.
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
Day 1: Arrival in Ulaanbaatar, guided city tour
Day 2: Flight to Ulaangom, drive to Tenug valley
Day 3: Trek to Blue lake
Day 4: Trek to confluence of Kharkhiraa & Turgen rivers
Day 5: Trek to Ekhen Khoroo Mt
Day 6: Trek the alpine area and lakes
Day 7: Cross Kharkhiraa pass and descend to Many Lakes
Day 8: Trek to Black Goat valley, snow leopard habitat
Day 9: Trek to snow leopard information center
Day 10: Drive to Uureg lake
Day 11: Rest day at Uureg lake
Day 12: Transfer to Ulaangom town and take a flight to Ulaanbaatar
Day 13: Day at leisure in Ulaanbaatar
