Trip starts in Ulaanbaatar with next day flight to Khovd province. It is one of the western provinces known for its beautiful high valleys and numbers of lake. For watching birds we drive to Khar Us lake, the 2nd largest freshwater lake of Mongolia, a perfect habitat for wild ducks, gooses, wood grouses, partridges and seagulls, including the rare Relict Gull and Herring Gull. Trip continues towards Bayan-Ulgii province, the only province of Mongolia where Kazakh people live. On the way you will stop at Tsast Uul - a soaring, permanently snow-capped peak of 4193 km, and visit Kazakh-eagle hunting family. They train eagles, falcons’ hawks to collect marmots, small foxes and wolves and return to the ger, where the Kazakhs use them for food. They will proudly show you their birds. After visiting eagle hunters we will drive to Achit Lake, the largest lake in Uvs province. This lake is home to flocks of geese, eagles and other bird life. After spending hours at the lake we drive to Kharkhiraa valley-delightful valley, surrounded by dense pine forests, has crystal clear river and carpeted with flowers. It is a perfect place to stay while and relax, or to go hiking. Then we will explore Uvs Lake - a gigantic inland Sea in the middle of side, creating the impression that you have indeed reached the sea. Ornithologists have documented over 200 species of birds around Uvs lake including cranes, geese and eagles, as well as Gulf which fly thousand miles from the southern coast of China to spend a brief summer in Mongolia.
